Coastal storm cups
$65.00 Sold Out
Summer storm season arrived after Christmas and has carried through to late January (hooray for water and the end of our drought!).
I can't help but see how my mood shifts, and different colours take control in my nerikomi layers. The storms travel up from the ocean and its a beautiful if not slightly scary sight.
Finely crafted from Australian porcelain, these cups have nerikomi layers of coloured porcelain and various stoneware clays. Sourced from Queensland's Great Dividing Range, these cups have slices of raw volcanic minerals and clays. Due to the conflicting clays in the inlay, there is warping of the rims in these 2 cups. I think it adds character, but will not effect the use.
Each cup is hand crafted by Larissa in her under ground bunker studio based in Tamborine Mountain, Queensland.
Price is for 1 cup- which has its own special personality.
Did you know that porcelain keeps your wine super cool? Feel free to try! ;) I’ve also been told that gin, iced tea and chai lattes suit these cups pretty well too!
Polished silky smooth outside with a clear gloss inside.
Fired to cone 10 which offers superior translucency, whiteness and strength.
Recommendation is to hand wash for a long & happy life.
approx: 200ml 80mm high, 90mm wide at rim
