With Heart and Curiosity: My Time with Glenn R Cooke
I first met Glenn in 2018, when he awarded me Winner of the Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence at the Brisbane Institute of Art. I had just begun using raw clays sourced from now closed Ipswich clay pits, and Glenn immediately began sharing detailed historical context about them. Our conversations about postwar ceramics in Southeast Queensland quickly grew into a mentorship. By 2020, when I started to research pioneering Tamborine Mountain women potters, Glenn also became my editor. Later that year, in between lockdowns Glenn visited Tamborine Mountain to officiate my exhibition. Currently available to read in the latest Journal of Australian Ceramics.
